The sound of gunfire as a 4-4 beat at 150 bpm was a little too intense, even for her! Especially whilst standing on a chair, on top of a table, on top of a rooftop garden, with a thirty-foot drop beneath her!
Thelmos screamed, and it was a good scream! She took the sound of her scream, slowed it down, then played all the sounds together in a loop.
It was utter chaos!
Thelmos blinked back her tears as she looked down over her garden. She waved goodbye to her enemies lined up against the far wall. Those who had betrayed her. She was playing her music so loud that the table and chair she was standing on vibrated from the bass, and she grinned.
Oh! I really like that bass!
The vibrations were slowly moving the chair leg towards the edge of the table it was balanced on. She was intrigued as to why the bass was causing the chair to move towards the thirty-foot drop, and not away from it? She didn’t believe in fate; she just couldn’t be bothered working out the mathematics as to why the chair was moving towards the drop.
Even though fate doesn’t exist, maybe it is fate?
Reassuringly (but at the same time disappointingly), she calculated the reasons for the vibrations sending her towards the thirty-foot drop. It wasn’t fate; it was base mathematics and science.
Why is it that I'm both reassured and disappointed by that?
Because you’re a snivelling pathetic little crybaby who, for a split second, actually believed there might be such a thing as fate? The fact that you even considered fate is disappointment enough in itself. You truly are a lost cause! Because of that, fate will make sure you topple thirty feet from the roof to land on your head for being stupid enough to actually believe in it!
Alright! Give it a rest! I’m not having a good day today, and you’re really not helping!
You’re right! Your garden is boring! I think that flat expanse of grey will look much brighter with a red pool of blood, slowly seeping out across it. I wonder what kind of pattern it might make? I’m hoping it looks a bit like a butterfly, but I won’t know, given I’ll be just as dead as you!
Shut up. I’m trying to concentrate, and you’re really not helping!
She watched in wonder as the vibrations from the bass caused the chair leg to slowly vibrate towards the edge of the table. She calculated her head would hit the boring grey expanse just before the chair landed on top of her. Around 4.3 seconds later, the table would land on her head (she didn’t know for sure it would land on her head, but if fate was involved, it was guaranteed). Just in case she was somehow still alive after the fall, fate and the table would definitely finish the job.
Just before the chair leg slid over the side of the table, she crouched low, wrenched the stiletto from the chair, then pushed herself upwards to launch herself into a double somersault. The chair was thrown away from her as she soared out from the rooftop across the solid, boring grey expanse thirty feet below. She closed her eyes and in the midst of the second somersault, threw the stiletto at her most hated enemy with all her fury.
As she descended headfirst into her garden, she thought:
