Book 1 - Raz'Kul

This is a Work In Progress early draft, unfinished, unreviewed with mistakes being worked on. This is the "No Spoiler" version which is entirely deliberate.  It tells nothing of the book other than the events leading up to the first chapter, and some quotes from the start of the first chapter...

We are currently looking for proof readers (aged 12+) to provide feedback on the first 5 chapters of:

The Dark Is A Cold Lonely Shadow - Book 1 - Raz'Kul

Raz'Kul was a reasonably well known thief, with a smart mouth and a mediocre bounty on his head.

Nobody recognised him from his wanted poster, which most thieves would be more than happy about.

However it would seem, this is where everything went wrong for Raz'Kul!

He took exception to "...a poor depiction of my likeness that doesn't accurately reflect my charming good looks!"

Nobody knows how Raz'Kul managed to break into the Kings most secure vault, and even more puzzling was the fact he only stole the cheapest item he could find.

It would seem he did it just to show the world he could!

Leaving an expertly drawn and perfectly accurate depiction of himself on the Kings bedside table, was perhaps not the wisest decision he ever made.

Raz'Kuls quest for recognition worked better than he could have possibly imagined.

His bounty was immediately increased to the largest amount ever know (by some considerable margin) with the words "Dead Or Alive" added - something usually only done for the very worst of crimes.

He's now in serious trouble with every member of the militia, every bounty hunter, his "friends", and now the Assassins Guild hunting him to collect on the reward.

And of course they now they have a perfect depiction of his "charming good looks".

What is so important about this cheap, battered, dusty old lamp?

When Raz'Kul discovers that Genies are in fact real, and he only gets one wish, not three?

What will he wish for?

Endless riches and power? Or something for the "greater good"?

Raz'Kul whispered to the Genie,

"So, what do most people wish for then?”

The Genie sighed even deeper:

"Almost all wish for exactly what you suggest Raz'Kul! Endless gold or riches? To be the King (you know like the guy you just stole me from)? To be an all powerful wizard?"

"And yes eternal life is always high up on the list..."

The Genie continued sadly.

"It's all so tiring! All so selfish! Now wouldn't it be nice if someone wished for something selfless? Just for once? Something for the greater good?"

Raz'Kul chuckled to himself, mocking the Genie.

"The greater good? Don't be ridiculous! You really have been locked away in that dusty vault too long!"

Perhaps not..?
